They’re good-looking, over 35, and moving to L.A. All reasons why it’s refreshingly surprising to hear that former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams and fiancé Chad Johnson are saving sex for marriage.

A press release for the couple’s upcoming reality show reads, “The newly engaged couple is turning to intensive premarital counseling to help prepare them for life together as husband and wife. Both are relocating to Los Angeles from different cities … but not to the same bedroom.”

Boom, baby.

It continues, “Guided by their faith and unwavering values, the couple has vowed to consummate the relationship only after they are wed.”

Definitely not something you’d expect from someone who used to sing songs like “Bootylicious” and “Cater 2 U.” We’ll leave those up for interpretation.

My generation will associate Williams with songs like those. But the next generation might associate her with something entirely different—being a champion for the biblical model of marriage.

Her faith in general seems to have inspired much more than just her upcoming marriage. She’s written devotional plans and recorded a video for YouVersion that dive into the topics of anxiety and depression.

You may not be raising the next Michelle Williams, but you can be raising the next marriage champion. Passport2Purity can guide you through this process, awkwardness and all. In fact, fall’s a great time to plan some time away with your preteen. Check out what this young person had to say about her Passport2Purity weekend with her mom.

This fall is also when Chad and Michelle’s reality show debuts. Time will tell what God has in store for them. But one thing’s for sure: They seem to be getting off to a great start.
