All of us come and go during the summer months and a break from mentoring can be refreshing for both mentor and mentee alike.  However, be sensitive to the needs of your mentee.  If you will be unavailable for an extended time, let your mentee know when you expect to return.  There’s no reason you should not be able to step back and recharge with your family.  But offering the mentee a brief explanation is gracious and says to them, “You’re important to me and I definitely want to continue meeting together after this short break.”
