Judging Before or After (Luke 7)

According to Jesus, it misses the mark to stand in judgement of the sins of a repentant person. We should focus instead on their gratitude and changed heart. In Luke 7 Simon, a pride-filled Pharisee, judged both a woman with her sordid reputation and Jesus for hanging out with her. But Jesus called attention to her tears of repentance and appreciation for mercy as signs of love and faith. When focused on justifying ourselves we often point out other's sins. Instead we need to cry out for mercy.
